LCAP Parent Survey
The Local Control Accountability Plan, LCAP Parent Survey is available on our school homepage. For easy access, please click here.

This survey is an opportunity to provide input into the LCAP (how the District spends money) and provide feedback based on your perceptions and experiences as parents of San Marcos students. I would very much appreciate it if you took the time to complete this survey. As a school site, we use the data gathered in this survey to set goals for the school and allocate resources (money) toward school improvement. We also gain a sense of the degree in which you feel that your voice is heard, that you are involved in your child’s education, that you feel that your child is safe, and so on. Put simply, I take these results very seriously and would love to have high participation to yield accurate/useful data.

Paper Drive and Hawaiian Day (formerly Luau Lunch)

Carrillo Magic Show
Last Thursday, students attended an outstanding assembly with magic and an important message on bullying with tips on how to prevent it at Carrillo. The Magician Brock Edwards will be coming back to Carrillo on Friday, April 26 for a family magic show. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased with the order form that went home with students on Thursday. You can watch a preview of the show by clicking on this link. In addition to the show, Mr. Taco will be there selling food. Proceeds from the show and food purchases go back to Carrillo. This will be the last family event of the year so we hope you can make it. Weather permitting it will be outside and we will be able to sell as many tickets as we would like. However, if the weather does not cooperate, we will be moving the performance to the MPR, at which case, tickets will be limited.

Volunteer Breakfast and Flag Salute
On Friday, May 3 from 8:45-10am, we will be honoring ALL of Carrillo Elementary volunteers with a special Flag Salute and breakfast. If you volunteer in the classroom, on the running track, for Arts Attack, as a room parent, at a PTO sponsored event, on the PTO Board, or any other way (I know I have missed a few) please join!

Parent Information Nights at Carrillo
Please mark your calendars for the following parent information nights that will be offered by our school. As a parent, I know our number one goal is to keep our children safe. Although our children may be still too young for the following topics to be a big concern, I see this as an opportunity to gain knowledge ahead of time to help keep them safe. I will be sending a separate email with the flyers later this week.

“Social Media Safety” Presented by John Moffit: April 23 at 6 pm.
“Drug Trends and Prevention”: May 1 at 6 pm

April Running Club Incentives
We are hoping to see more students out on the running track this month and will be offering incentives/prizes for the most improved class per grade and the highest mileage class per grade.

Leo Carrillo Ranch Parking
The Leo Carrillo Ranch parking lot will be closed every Friday for the remainder of the year due to wedding season. We will still be opening the back gate if you park in the neighborhood or for your child to walk home.

Spring Fling and Auction (Parents Only)
The Annual Spring Fling Auction is back, and better than ever! Come join fellow Carrillo parents and teachers May 18th at 5:30pm, at St. Mark Golf Club as we enjoy a night out and raise money for Carrillo Elementary. The event will feature an outdoor lounge, casino, music by DJ Sam, wine pull, gourmet heavy hors d'oeuvres, hosted bar, and of course our signature auction. Our theme this year will be "The White Party" so come dressed to impress in your best all-white attire (you don’t need to wear white to attend, just dress comfortably). All proceeds from the event will go back to Carrillo Elementary to help develop our students into leaders of the future. Don't miss the best event of the year. Tickets are on sale now.

Safe Routes to School
Please join other parents at Carrillo Elementary in completing the survey related to best practices of the Safe Routes to Schools Program. We want to hear from you. This survey is brief and should take you no longer than five minutes to complete. Your answers will be combined with others’ and shared with the city to help us create ways to benefits our families at Carrillo Elementary School.

If you have a child in kindergarten or TK—you will be receiving a paper survey from your child’s teacher. You can fill out the online or paper version. To help us with sorting out the responses, please complete only one version. The paper version may be turned in to your child’s teacher. All surveys (online and paper versions) must be completed and turned in by April 24.
Here is the link to the online survey: https://www.research.net/r/CarrilloElementarySchool

We look forward to creating safe and efficient ways of transportation for our students and community. Thank you for your participation.

Thank you,

Gary Pope, Principal
