December 5. 2021

Dear Carrillo Families,

I can’t thank everyone enough for all of your support for the canned food, diaper, and wipe drive for the Camp Pendleton Marines. We were able to load an entire truck with six pallets of items! I know these donations will make a big difference for young Marines and their families throughout the year. The successful collection and beautiful Flag Ceremony on Friday are proud moments for our school. They exemplify how strong we are as a community, and it takes all members, parents, students, teachers, and support staff to work collectively to achieve this success.

We only have two weeks of school left before a three-week Winter Break. However, we have some fun events planned, including the first Carrillo Festival of Lights this Friday evening, to benefit our 5th-grade class of 2022. The 5th graders raise money to support their activities and a class gift for Carrillo every year. Entry to the Festival is free, and any donation to the 5th-grade class gift is greatly appreciated. The Festival of Lights will be a fun community event where Carrillo families can come together, entirely outdoors and safe within COVID protocols, to strengthen relationships and celebrate the holidays together. I’d love to see you all there.

We also have a dine-out at Casero Taqueria on Wednesday, a Flag Salute and Award Ceremony on Friday, followed by a PTO meeting. Please see the list of Important Dates below for more information. We always say there is never a dull moment at Carrillo, but we like it this way! Have a great week!
