January 9, 2022

Dear Carrillo Families,

Happy New Year. We are so excited to welcome your children back to school tomorrow! Although the pandemic continues to bring significant challenges to how we operate, it’s wonderful that our community continues to thrive by being back in school. Students are making progress academically, and we have several fun events and activities planned this semester. I can’t wait to reopen our doors tomorrow and restart the teaching and learning!

COVID Reminders

Masks will continue to be used indoors at school at all times. It would help us greatly if you ensure your child brings a mask to school each day and packs an extra mask. Currently, we are handing out over 100 masks per day and it has been challenging to ensure we have the correct size for each student.

Please do not send your child to school with any symptoms or if they have been exposed to an individual that has tested positive for COVID. If your child has symptoms of COVID, please go to one of the District testing sites.

Students will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly and maintain distance as much as possible.

Letter From SMUSD

Please review the recent email from the District if you haven’t already. There have been some changes to the District testing schedule, a new Decision Tree, and changes to the quarantine/isolation protocols. Now, if a student tests positive for COVID and does not have symptoms, they can come back to school on day six if they test negative in during the quarantine period. Please review all of the information attached below and let me know if you have any questions.

Volunteers Suspended

Unfortunately, we are unable to have volunteers on campus at this time due to the increased risk of COVID-19 spreading in the community. I’m hoping this is only temporary and we will restart our volunteers in person soon. Parents, please know that your volunteerism and participation in our school community are greatly appreciated!

Friday, January 14th at 9 am.

Unfortunately, due to the increased restrictions on adults on campus, this meeting will be virtual-only. All parents are part of PTO, so all parents are welcome to log in and hear the exciting events happening in the coming weeks!
