Dear Carrillo Families,

Congratulations to Loic Lapointe for being the Spelling Bee champion! Also, congratulations to all of the Spelling Bee participants, We are very proud and impressed with all of you!

APEX Fundraiser Starts This Week!
We are so excited to start our APEX Fun Run Fundraiser this week. The money raised during this fundraiser will go into the PTO fund and will be used to fund intervention teachers, technology in the classroom, special events for students and families, digital resources, engaging assemblies, our STEM lab and STEM lab instructor, material resources for the classroom, lunchtime activities, playground equipment, and much more. As you can see, the money we gain from fundraisers is used to create a great experience for every child at Carrillo. To say the least, Carrillo would be very limited on what we can provide to students if we didn’t have such a large amount of support from our families. Thank you all for your help in making this campaign a success! Here is what you need to know:
APEX’s character and leadership program focuses on being STRONG as a group and valuing each other’s differences (luckily, it’s closely aligned with our own character ed. program)
We need your help in connecting your child to potential sponsors and help to acquire pledges for the number of laps they run on Fun Run day. Friends and family anywhere in the world can support our school.
All students will receive their individual pledge kit with an individual access code this Tuesday during the pep rally. Please help them get started Tuesday night.
The Fun Run is scheduled for Thursday, March 14. Please see the schedule below. We love having parents join us during the Fun Run and there are multiple volunteer opportunities. All students will receive an APEX wrist band, an APEX t-shirt, and will experience the Fun Run.

Recycling Program
We will be ensuring students place their recyclable materials in assigned bins at school so they can be redeemed for money. PTO volunteers have also volunteered to collect cans from Carrillo households on Flag Salute Fridays and take them to Recycle Planet. So far they have collected a $42 profit which has been donated to PTO. That sum was just from their two households. The idea is to collect recyclable bottles and cans from many other Carrillo homes which will multiply that number exponentially! I will follow up with more information, a flyer, and reminders for when collections will take place.
