Dear Carrillo Families,

We are so thankful to have all of our grades officially back on campus. The students are doing a great job with the procedures and safety measures we have in place. The staff has been pleasantly surprised by each child's tolerance for the masks and distancing measures. We can also tell there are many smiles behind the masks and enjoyment of being back on campus with their peers. As we settle into our new way of school, please let me know if there are any concerns or questions you see from your perspective. We want to make sure all students have a great year!

Panera Dine-Out This Thursday!

Panera dine out is scheduled for Thursday, November 19th, 4-8 pm at Panera (near Lowe’s). Please see the flyer below for more information-

New Play Structures for Kinder and 1st-5th

Construction for our new playgrounds in kindergarten and 1st-5th grade will begin this week. All school parking lot procedures, instructional times, and student movement hours have been communicated to the construction crew to avoid disruptions to our students. Other than diverting the running track across the field, we should not be affected by this project, especially since the play structures are off-limits to students at this time anyway. I feel this is the right timing to get brand new equipment ready for students once the restrictions are lifted.

Marine Corps Food Drive

Thank you to all of our Carrillo families that donated to the annual Camp Pendleton Food and Diaper Drive. We collected almost four full pallets of items, which will make a huge difference for many young Marines and their families. I am so proud of our students and our community for giving back to others despite the significant challenges we are facing. We are certainty #CarrilloStrong!! Please join me in a special thank you to our PTO members, Lee Ann Shandle and Amy Wylder, for spearheading this project and ensuring it was a success! Thank you both for your commitment to Carrillo!

Giving Tree

Our Carrillo community has always been generous in coming together to support our school, teachers and students and we believe this year is no different.

The PTO started a "Giving Tree" this Holiday Season, to help our very own Carrillo families that are in need of help, especially this year amidst a Pandemic.

iReady Minutes & Progress

Student completion of their weekly iReady minutes AND personalized lessons are a significant component of the hybrid/remote learning schedule for all grade levels. Our school-wide goal is for all students to reach their typical growth targets in Reading and Math as set by the iReady Diagnostic. Additionally, we would like to see at least half of our students reach their stretch growth targets. Research shows if students complete 60 minutes of their iReady MyPath in both math and reading and pass 70% or greater more of the lessons each week, their chances of reaching their stretch growth goals are much higher. Please help ensure this is happening each week by following the instructions below.

iReady My Path is an individualized program that works on lessons at each student's specific academic level. Please watch this video from Mrs. Williams or see the step-by-step directions below to learn how to check your child's minutes and the lesson pass rate for the week. The remote learning days are the perfect time to ensure these minutes are met, and the lessons are being completed. We appreciate your support at home!
