Dear Carrillo Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and happy from a week with your families. Although we continue to face enormous challenges this year, I am thankful for the strength of our Carrillo community. Thank you for reading the reminders below and for your support in keeping all of our students, staff members, and family members safe while continuing to attend school in-person.

Important Reminders:

The Three Ws will keep us safe: Please remind your children to Wear a mask, Watch their distance from others (they should remain 6 ft away from others at all times), and Wash their hands frequently. Our greatest goal this year is to prevent any spread of the virus on campus. If all students and staff follow these rules, I'm confident we will remain safe and continue to minimize the risk of transmission on campus.

Symptom Screening: It’s also extremely important that no one is on campus if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID, tested positive, or have come in contact with anyone that has tested positive. Parents must screen their children for COVID-related symptoms each day your child attends school. Please complete the LumiSight questionnaire for each child coming to campus before you arrive at the school.

*Helpful Tip: If you are dropping your child off from your car or walking up to the gate, please have a screenshot of the LumiSight clearance badge generated after completing the screening. This allows your child to walk right onto campus.

Covid Symptoms Decision Tree:

Please review the symptom Decision Tree to be informed of the District procedures regarding COVID related symptoms:

Decision Tree chart.pdf

It is very important that students aren’t sent to school with any COVID-related symptoms, which include:

  • Fever with or without chills/rigors (fever defined as T >100.0 that does not resolve within 30 min. without medication)
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nasal congestion/rhinorrhea (runny nose)
  • Sore throat
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • New loss of taste/smell
  • Headache
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Poor feeding or poor appetite

If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms at school, they will be sent home. Any reported or observed symptom will require a 10-day isolation period and restriction from attending in-person learning. This isolation period can be lessened with proof of a negative COVID test. If your child receives a negative test, they may return to school 72 hours after their symptoms resolve. Our front office and health office teams are here to assist you with this process.

Attendance:

If your child does not attend school, even if it was a remote learning Monday, the reasons for their absence must be reported so we can determine when your child can return to school. Please call the attendance line (760) 290-2929 or complete the Attendance Reporting Form on the Carrillo Homepage.

Giving Tree

Our Carrillo community has always been generous in coming together to support our school, teachers, and students, and we believe this year is no different.

The PTO started a "Giving Tree" this Holiday Season to help our very own Carrillo families that are in need of help, especially this year amidst a Pandemic.

iReady Minutes & Progress

Student completion of their weekly iReady minutes AND personalized lessons are a significant component of the hybrid/remote learning schedule for all grade levels. Our school-wide goal is for all students to reach their typical growth targets in Reading and Math as set by the iReady Diagnostic. Additionally, we would like to see at least half of our students reach their stretch growth targets. Research shows if students complete 60 minutes of their iReady MyPath in both math and reading and pass 70% or greater more of the lessons each week, their chances of reaching their stretch growth goals are much higher. Please help ensure this is happening each week by following the instructions below.

iReady My Path is an individualized program that works on lessons at each student's specific academic level. Please watch this video from Mrs. Williams or see the step-by-step directions below to learn how to check your child's minutes and the lesson pass rate for the week. The remote learning days are the perfect time to ensure these minutes are met and the lessons are being completed. We appreciate your support at home!
