Dear Carrillo Families,

All-School Flag Salute This Friday at 8:45 followed by an awards ceremony for all Carrillo Citizens of the Month

This Friday, we will recognize Citizens of the Month award recipient for “Growth Mindset,” Running Club Awards, and other special recognition. If your child is receiving an award, you
will be invited by your child’s teacher via paper notice or email.

Following the Flag Salute, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-grade Citizens on the Month Recipients (and parents) will go to the multipurpose room for the presentation of their awards by Mrs. Williams. 4th and 5th-grade award recipients will stay on the blacktop for their award presentation by me. We are dividing the two groups to shorten the award ceremony. Last month, we had all the grades together, and the awards ran one hour.

Kindergarten Flag Salutes are also taking place this Friday in front of the school. AM Kinder Flag Salute is at 11:25 am. PM Kinder Flag Salute is at 11:50 am. Awards for kindergarten students will be passed out during the kindergarten Flag Salutes.

Restorative Practices Parent Information Night
As promised, we will hold a parent informational night for restorative practices October 30 at 5:30 pm in the Carrillo Multipurpose Room. As I have mentioned in previous emails, our staff is committed to using restorative practices to build community and respond to harm at our school, and we would love if our message is reinforced at home. Our facilitator for the Parent Training session will be Cristina Parodi Araya who is a Parent/Family Liaison for the San Diego County Office of Education and a trainer of restorative practices. During our session, Christina will:
Give an introduction to the rationale
Share current research and data related to the program
Review training practices/language/behavior expectations that are currently being used by our staff members
Provide parents with a circle experience

Please mark your calendars for this important informational session.
