About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie Tuimavave and   I am a first-grade teacher here at Carrillo   Elementary School. I am thrilled to work at Carrillo and I am so grateful to have, what I believe as, the best job in the world. This is my 7th year here at Carrillo and I am thrilled to be a part of the 1st-grade team this year. I am excited to work with you and get to know each and every one of you better.   Scroll down to learn a little bit more about me.

My Education

I graduated from Vista High School where I played volleyball. After graduation, I went to Palomar and received my AA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Science and Social Studies. I then attended Cal State San Marcos. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. I continued my education at CSUSM where I received credentials in general elementary education and Mild/Moderate special education. During the credential program, I had the opportunity to student teach with Ms. Fisher and Mrs. Estrada. After the credential program, I was hired as Mrs. Williams' long-term sub in kindergarten. Soon after my subbing term, I was hired at Carrillo.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every child is gifted and has unique qualities that should be cherished and enlightened. I believe in maintaining a low-stress, yet academically rigorous learning environment.  Each student has his or her own personal learning style, and I will try my best to foster the needs to their fullest potential. I will continue to instill a love for learning new things, perseverance through challenging obstacles, and motivation to reach his or her goals. I believe that a large part of my role as your child’s teacher is to instill life-long skills, such as independence, responsibility, acceptance, and honesty, so that they will be successful throughout their academic and professional lives. My goal is to create a learning environment that is comfortable and safe. I will provide your child with the tools to independently discover the world around them.

I believe in keeping open lines of communication with parents and caregivers, so please feel free to email if you or your child face any challenges, successes, or questions.  I encourage parent involvement in the classroom and on campus. Parent/caregiver involvement is what
makes Carrillo such a wonderful place.
Interests
I love to move! When I'm not in the classroom, you can probably find me running or working out at Jazzercise. Volleyball is my sport. I played all throughout my youth and when in college, I coached for local clubs and at Vista High School. Although no sport will come close to my love for volleyball, I have found a new appreciation for football from my husband. I am a Steelers fan by marriage ;)
