We need as many volunteers as we can get!!!
(Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, 18+ siblings)
Volunteer Job Descriptions
Rotation Volunteers (not Wed.)
Time Duration: 1 ½ hours….. one day a week, every week. We need help the day go smoothly. Rotation volunteers come in on the same day once a week, every week. Rotation volunteers work with a small group of children (7-8 children) at a time. There will be 4 group rotations a day. Activities will vary depending on the standard or theme of the week.
Phonics Club Volunteers
Time Duration: 2+ hours…. one day a week. Training will be provided. You will work one on one with students in a structured program. Students will be given a page of phonics words to practice at home and your job is to test them on the words at school. You will also help students who are struggling reading the words.
Sight Words Club Volunteers
Time Duration: 2+ hours…. one day a week. Training will be provided. You will work one on one with students in a structured program. Students will be given a page of sight words to practice at home and your job is to test them on the words at school. You will also help students who are struggling reading the words.
Math Club Volunteers
Time Duration: 2+ hours ….one day a week. Training will be provided. You will work one on one with students in a structured program. Students will be given a page of numbers to practice recognizing and writing at home and your job is to test them on number recognition and writing at school. You will also help students who are struggling recognizing and writing their numbers.
Room Parents / PTO Liaison
Time Duration: Depends on the event or occasion to plan and organize events, such as Father’s day. We can talk about any other occasions such as Halloween, Valentine, etc. We have a District policy of no junk food, so you will have to be creative. You will also be the main contact person for our PTO Board helping with Carrillo events.
Guest Scientist Volunteers
Time Duration: One time out of the whole school year or more…..1 ½ hours….see sign up sheet
You don’t need any Art/Science experience. As long as you like to have fun, this is a great volunteer position. You will work with a small group of 6/7 children at a time in a rotation. There will be four 20 minute rotations. You get to choose your art/science project. We have detailed instructions of different art & science projects available.
If you are not comfortable working with children, we always have prep to do. You can come in anytime look on the table in the hallway and you will most likely find something to prep. If you want to take it home, leave us a note and let us know what you took and please ask when it is due.
