Welcome back to the STEM Lab, with Mrs. Rinehart!
I am super excited to be back at Carrillo teaching STEM. I have been a part of the Carrillo community for 8 years, since both my children have been lucky enough to attend Carrillo.
Although I teach the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math), my focus is really on helping my students build the 21st-century skills they will need for future success. In the STEM Lab, we celebrate grit, perseverance, and EPIC fails! The students know that this is how we learn--how we grow our brains.
"Engineering activities reinforce a child's critical thinking and problem-solving skills, their creativity, their confidence to innovate, and their ability to communicate and collaborate with their peers. These are all important '21st-century skills' that better prepare students for the complex work and life environments they will join." (Engineering in Elementary STEM Education, Christine M. Cunningham, 2018)
Parent volunteers are always welcome in the STEM Lab. Please contact your student's teacher regarding the class schedule. I love being a part of the Carrillo Community, and look forward to working with your children!
