About Ms. Beninger

Ms. Beninger

I have been teaching P.E. here at Carrillo for 8 years now, and it truly is my dream job!  I love sharing my passion for health and fitness with so many awesome young people every day!

I graduated from Cal State San Marcos in 2009 with a multiple subject teaching credential and thought I would go directly into my own elementary classroom.  My plans changed when I was offered a P.E. position at Carrillo.  I took the job, loved it, and decided to get my single subject teaching credential in Physical Education.  In my 8 years teaching at Carrillo, I have been able to develop a unique, standards based P.E. program that challenges students and motivates them to do their personal best.  I love watching my students set and accomplish their goals!  In addition to teaching Physical Education, I coach the track team, after school soccer and running classes, and participate in many 5k and 10k races with students outside of school.

PE is my passion, and I strive to stay up to date with the latest teaching practices, so I am constantly participating in professional development and seeking out opportunities to learn and grow in my field.  Most recently, I  completed the Physical Education Leadership Academy through the San Diego County Office of Education, and became a Physical Education Leader.   I also worked to  design curriculum for the SDCOE physical education website, https://fit2learn.sdcoe.net/

Personally, I enjoy a very active lifestyle.  Cycling, running, swimming, hiking... you name it!  I just love staying happy, healthy and active!  My 16 year old daughter, Katie, is the light of my life.  She is a swimmer and water polo player so we spend lots of time together at the beach and the pool.
