Dear Carrillo Families,
Happy New Year! I hope this email finds you safe and well-rested from the holiday season.
As you likely read in a previous email from our interim superintendent, Dr. Holt, our School Board has made the difficult decision to suspend in-person learning for two weeks after winter break due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the region. If you did not see that email, I have attached it here: Elementary ltr from Governing Board and Dr. Holt-English.pdf
At this time, remote learning is expected to run from January 11-22. In-person learning should resume during the week of January 25th. The School Board will be meeting again on January 11th to review this timeline.
Remote Learning Schedule
For the next two weeks, we will be returning to the full-day remote learning schedule that we began during the third week of school (before we started the in-person hybrid schedule). Students will access their learning via google classroom and zoom/google meet. Although we are saddened that we will not see our students in person next week, I’m confident that our knowledge and experience with remote learning, and the preparations we have made this week, will allow for a smooth transition back to remote learning.
The School Hours for our Hybrid Students as follows (LEVS classes will not have any changes)-
**These hours may vary from class to class. Please look for specific information from your child’s teacher. I include the times here to give you an idea of what to expect next week.
PreK (SPED preschool)-
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays- 8:25 am - 9:50 am
TK, Kinder, 1st-5th
Mondays: 8:30 am -10:10 am
Tuesday-Friday: 8:30 am - 2:45 pm (students will have a recess and 45-minute lunch)
**As before, instruction will include a combination of “live” direct instruction by the teacher via zoom or google meet, small group instruction, independent work both online and offline, specials, etc. Again, please lookout for a more detailed schedule from your child’s teacher.
Closed Campus
During these two weeks of remote learning, our office staff will be working remotely. The best way to contact our office staff during this time is via email.

Materials Pick-Up
Below is our materials pickup schedule. Please drive through the pickup lane during your child’s assigned time to receive their materials. Please display your child’s dashboard sign so our support staff can quickly identify your child's name and classroom and get you what you need. The items will be handed to you or placed in your car while you remain in your vehicle. Please wear a mask as well.
If you do not see your child’s teacher or grade level, don’t worry. That means they already have what they need for the first week of school.
If you or anyone in your household is experiencing COVID-related symptoms, or you are under quarantine orders, please do not attend the pickup. If you are ill or cannot attend the pickup times for any other reason, please email me to arrange an alternative.
