Dear Carrillo Families,

To all of our Carrillo moms, I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day!! This year has been especially difficult, and we recognize how hard each one of you has worked to support your children through these trying times. We hope all of our Carrillo moms are having a wonderful day as we celebrate you!!

We had a fantastic time at Carrillo this past week. Thank you, families, so much for your tremendous demonstration of appreciation for our teachers and staff members during Teacher Appreciation Week. It was heartwarming to see students go to school with handwritten cards, flowers, school supplies, coffees, and so much more to show their teachers and staff how much they mean to them. We also celebrated "Lunch Hero Day" on Friday and offered gratitude to our Child Nutrition employees for providing meals for students each day. Along with having our 2nd-5th graders on campus four days per week, there was so much to celebrate last week, and we thank you for your participation.

Dine Out This Week at Casero Taqueria in Bressi Ranch

Please join us for a Dine Out at Casero Taqueria in the Sprouts shopping center in Bressi on Wednesday, May 12.

Here is the address: 2674 Gateway Rd #195, Carlsbad, CA 92009. Just mention you are with Carrillo and they will give a portion of their sales to sponsor Carrillo programs.

Our Dine Out at Flippin Pizza was a big success. Together, we raised $350, just by eating pizza and salad! Dine Outs are an easy and fun way to raise money for our school and we greatly appreciate the support!

Expansion to In-Person Model

We had a successful transition to having 2nd-5th graders on campus four days per week. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure all COVID protocols are being followed, such as completing LumiSight check-ins daily, reporting illnesses and close contacts, and being patient with the dropoff and pick-up procedures. Together, we are keeping all students and staff members safe and keeping our doors open to in-person learning!

KOC Interest Survey

The San Marcos Unified School District is seeking to gauge potential interest from our community for our Kids on Campus (KOC) fee-based childcare program for the 2021-22 school year. As the instructional model for the 2021-22 school year is being developed with the intention to offer 5 days of school in person, your responses to this survey will assist us in determining the need for childcare around that model. This will allow us to begin determining facilities available, capacity, and logistics for childcare offerings on a site-by-site basis.

If you would be interested in using KOC childcare next year, please take a moment to complete the survey, which will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 7th.

School Site Council Interest Form

The School Site Council is an elected group of parents and staff who serve as an advisory group to the Principal. The meetings are held once a month at times/dates selected by the committee. The primary function of this group is to provide information and advice on the Single Plan for Student Achievement, the School Safety Plan, as well as review budgetary information.  This committee does not deal with fundraising or other areas covered by the PTO. We have 2 open spots for parents for next school year. The commitment would be for the 21/22 and 22/23 school years.

If you are interested in serving a two-year term on the Carrillo School Site Council, please complete the survey by clicking the link below.

SSC Interest Form

We need all responses by Wednesday, May 12th.

5th-Grade Events

5th-Grade Promotion:

We are finalizing our 5th-grade promotion ceremony details. This week, please lookout for an RSVP form to complete if you plan to attend the ceremonies in person.

Due to COVID protocols, we condensed the ceremonies into two groups rather than the original plan for three. Please find your teacher's last name below and mark your calendars.

Duke, Diggle, and Lora's classes: June 7 @ 9 am

Lancon, Williams, and Kinard's classes: June 7 @ 11 am

We cannot allow more than two family members per student (including siblings). Family members will need to pre-register/RSVP (form coming out this week), wear masks, complete a symptom screening and maintain 6ft social distance throughout the event. The CDHP guidelines also require us to assign seats. We will do this in a fair, random manner and will finalize the plan this week. After the ceremony, we will release audience members by row to limit congregating on campus. This means you will not be able to take pictures on campus after the event. However, our 5th-grade parent committee plans to decorate off-campus for families that would like to snap a quick photo together.

Our 5th-grade parent committee is also selling yard signs if anyone is interested. Please see the details below.

 $12 -  24”x18” with metal H stake included.

Available for purchase on (look under “News”)
