Dear Carrillo Families,

Red Ribbon Week

This week, we will be engaging in some fun activities at school to help promote healthy choices at Carrillo. Our student council members will be spearheading the campaign to encourage positive behaviors and a healthy body and mind. This is their first responsibility as newly elected council members, and trust me when I say they are incredibly excited to lead our campus and set high expectations for all. Take a look at the attached Red Ribbon Week flyer for more details.

iReady Diagnostic and MyPath

We use the iReady Diagnostic System and the corresponding personalized instruction program known as MyPath to improve students' outcomes in math and reading for grades Kindergarten through 5th. Students are encouraged to complete 45 minutes of instruction in MyPath in both Reading and Math each week. Many teachers allow students to do this in class, but there will be times students are asked to do this at home. It is a great program to use when your child must stay home because it delivers personalized instruction right at their instructional level. The Food and Diaper Drive to benefit Camp Pendleton Marines is off to a great start. As a reminder, we are collecting canned food, diapers, and wipes for young Marines and their families. With the holiday season on the horizon, we know how expensive it can be to feed a family and afford items like diapers and wipes. Our local Marines sacrifice so much for our nation. The Carrillo community is proud to give back every year to make their holiday season a little easier. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause! We are holding a grade-level competition to see which grade level collects the most items. Our tradition is that the grade level that collects the most will have special playtime with the Marines following the flag salute. We will provide more information about the Flag Salute and the visit by Marines as we are still ironing out the details.

Can you help with collections? Please click below to sign up to volunteer.

Halloween Dress Up Day This Friday

Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school this Friday for a Halloween Dress-up day. Please do not allow your child to wear anything that will be too scary or inappropriate for a school setting. Also, please do not have your child bring any candy to school or weapons (including toy weapons). We are excited to play music, dress up, and have fun with students this Friday.
