Mother's Day 2019

My name is Nicole Fresca and I love being a part of the Carrillo Family.
I taught 2nd grade for seven years at La Costa Meadows, from 1993 to 2000.  I took time away from teaching to stay at home to raise my young daughters.  During those ten years, I taught two classes at CSUSM and was a substitute teacher.  I came back to SMUSD in 2010 and worked at Richland as a reading intervention teacher .  I've taught 2nd grade for eight years at Carrillo and I am extremely grateful to be a part of such an amazing community of staff, students, and family.

I am mom to Emma and Annie.  Emma just began her senior year of college and Annie is starting her sophomore year of college.   It seems like just yesterday I was volunteering in their classrooms in second grade.
I am the oldest of six children and we are fortunate to all live in North County San Diego along with my dad.
Getting together for family dinners while playing a competitive game of flag football, wiffle ball, or corn hole is what I love to do in my free time. Spending time at the beach, reading, yoga, and running are some other things I enjoy.
I love teaching and feel blessed have the opportunity to work with a truly extraordinary staff.   I think the best part of my job is connecting with the students and their families.   Three focus areas in our classroom will be building community, taking risks, and understanding that making mistakes is a part of learning.  I am eager to meet each student and their family and begin our school year together.
