At Carrillo School, all students:

  • use good manners.
  • solve problems peacefully.
  • never use "put downs."
  • never use abusive language.
  • treat others as you would like to be treated.

All students are expected to:

  • be safe
  • be respectful
  • be responsible

POSITIVE CONSEQUENCES FOR GOOD BEHAVIOR

At Carrillo School, we appreciate your good behavior. You may be able to receive rewards such as Carrillo Care Awards, Signature Cards, Star Students, Student Standout, 7 Habits Awards, and Attendance Award. You may earn lunch with the Principal or Assistant Principal when your signature card is full. Special awards are announced at Flag Salute on Friday mornings.

ON THE PLAYGROUND CARRILLO COLTS ARE STARS!

There are four steps to follow when there is a disagreement on the playground:

STOPwhatever is causing the problem.

THINKabout what you could do differently.

ACTin such a way that helps all involved to a fair solution.

REVIEWin your mind how to keep this problem from happening again.

"When I can't solve a problem by myself, I get help from the Peace Patrol or a playground supervisor."

NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCE FOR INAPPROPRIATE STUDENT BEHAVIOR:

MAJOR OFFENSES:

  • foul language or swearing.
  • being rude or disrespectful to adults or peers.
  • dishonesty.
  • throwing anything except a ball or Frisbee
  • damaging school or personal property
  • fighting
  • pushing/hitting/kicking
  • rough play after a warning
  • bullying

MINOR OFFENSES (may result in a warning, playground time out, or detention):

  • using equipment improperly.
  • having gum, candy or toys at school.
  • game interference.
  • climbing on slopes, bushes, backstop, or any rocks except those touching the playground areas.
  • taking cuts or cheating in a game.

IF YOU ARE SENT TO THE OFFICE:

Severe disruptions and major offenses may result in a student being sent to the office. If this takes, place, parents are notified and more serious consequences will follow, up to, and including suspension from school. Each situation is handled individually.

NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IN THE CLASSROOM*:

  • student writes name on board or moves the clothespin.
  • warning.
  • time out.
  • lunch or recess detention.
  • teacher contacts parent.
  • visit to the principal.

*Each classroom develops its own discipline plan. This is an example.
