Hi Students and Families! Thank you for stopping by to get to know me a little bit. I can't wait to meet you!
Here's a little information about me:
My name is Nicole Wardinsky (formerly Ms. Fresca) and I love being a part of the Carrillo Family. I taught 2nd grade for seven years at La Costa Meadows, from 1993 to 2000. I took time away from teaching to stay at home to raise my young daughters. During those ten years, I taught two classes at CSUSM and was a substitute teacher. I came back to SMUSD in 2010 and worked at Richland as a reading intervention teacher. I've taught 2nd grade for thirteen years at Carrillo and I am extremely grateful to be a part of such an amazing community of staff, students, and families.
I am married to Terry, mom to Emma and Annie, and grandma to Blake (age 2). Emma teaches 1st grade in Beaumont, California. Annie has a background in personal training and nutrition, and is at home caring for Blake.
I am the oldest of six children and we are fortunate to all live in north county San Diego along with our dad. Getting together with family and friends is what I love to do in my free time. Spending time at the beach, reading, yoga, hiking, and camping are some other things I enjoy. This summer we traveled to Rock Creek Lake, Lassen National Park, and Mendocino. I also spent some time in Colorado Springs visiting our grandson, Blake.
I love teaching and feel blessed have the opportunity to work with a truly extraordinary staff. I think the best part of my job is connecting with the students and their families. Three focus areas in our classroom will be building community, taking risks, and understanding that making mistakes is a part of learning. I am excited to meet each student and their family and begin our school year together.
